Background

The page explores the development and application of numerous qualitative research designs and methods. The aim is to introduce techniques used within data collection (specifically interviews, focus groups and participant observations), in order to reinforce my capability to design and implement different types of research projects. Moreover, the examples below provide a useful toolbox for how qualitative research can be applied within different industries.

Data came from two sample populations: eight International Studies students (IS) and six residents of the Global Village dormitory. Questions for the three, hour-long focus groups and three, half-hour interviews employed concepts from the Intercultural Development Inventory, cultural competency workshops at NCSU, and the 2009 Consortium Project spearheaded by Georgetown University.

Consumer Innovation Collaborative

The CIC team conducted in-depth interviews with stakeholders at different stages along the value chain for each Environmental Science business unit. These recorded in-depth interviews were 30-45 minute long and were conducted over the phone. After the interviews, the team was tasked with transcribing and using the interviews to identify where 1:1 marketing strategies are most effective along different stages of the value chain.
